FAQs

General

Q:

Will my child need to take a placement assessment?

A:

Yes. We use a short assessment to identify learning gaps and determine where instruction should begin. It is not pass/fail—it helps us teach your child at the right level.

Q:

What subjects do you teach?

A:

Bible, English Grammar, Composition, Spelling, Math, History, and Geography.

Q:

What grade levels do you teach?

A:

Grades 6 -12

Q:

Can my child enroll for one subject only?

A:

Yes. You may enroll in as many or as few subjects as you'd like.

Q:

Will I (the parent) be required to stay at in-person events, or can I drop-off my child?

A:

We’ll let parents know in advance whether an event is drop-off or whether a parent will need to stay.

Q:

When and where do classes take place?

A:

JBP classes are currently online. Students complete assigned lessons and coursework from home and meet with their teacher live on Zoom at scheduled times for live teaching, discussion, guided practice, and assessment.

Families receive the schedule and Zoom information after enrollment.

Q:

What if my child is working below grade-level?

A:

We meet students where they are and strengthen the skills they need to progress.

Q:

What curriculum does JBP use?

A:

JBP primarily uses the Abeka curriculum, supplemented with teacher-created lessons and assignments as needed. We use textbooks as a strong academic foundation, but they are not always the center of instruction. For example, students may spend one week studying grammar and the next applying those skills through creative writing.

Tuition

Q:

How much does it cost and how is tuition calculated?

A:

Tuition is $25 a week. The rate was prayerfully set to keep JBP affordable for families while supporting the cost of instruction.

Please note: Our website is currently set to calculate tuition “per class,” which may cause your balance to appear higher than it actually is. We are working with our website provider to correct this issue. However, you will never be charged more than $25 per student, per week, regardless of what your balance shows.

Q:

Will I need to purchase textbooks?

A:

Yes. JBP primarily uses Abeka textbooks and materials. Families will receive a list of required books before classes begin. Additional teacher-created materials may be provided as needed, at no cost.

Q:

Do you offer discounts or financial aid?

A:

Not at this time.

Religion

Q:

Do I have to be a Christian to attend JBP?

A:

No. However, JBP is a Christian school, and all students are expected to respect the Biblical beliefs and standards that guide our teaching and school community. Families will be asked to acknowledge and respect our Statement of Faith.

Legal

Q:

What are the Laws that govern homeschool in NJ?

A:

In New Jersey, the Legislature under the compulsory education law (N.J.S.A. 18A:38-25) has permitted children to receive “equivalent instruction elsewhere than at school,” including the home. See the NJ FAQs for Homeschooling:https://www.nj.gov/education/safety/nontraditional/faq_homeschool.shtml
